The Corporate Athlete

Burn-out isn't inevitable.

The Corporate Athlete program transforms your organizational glue—middle managers and executive teams—from burned out to optimized. Because sustainable performance isn't built on willpower. It's built on physiology.

When your managers are making decisions on 5 hours of sleep, fueling with coffee and stress, and operating in chronic sympathetic overdrive, no amount of strategy consulting fixes the bottleneck. OPTImind integrates what most companies separate: business performance and human performance. We assess what's actually limiting your team's output—then build the infrastructure for sustainable execution.

Wellness Programs Don't Move Metrics. Performance Infrastructure Does.

Your organization has tried:

  • Corporate wellness initiatives (unused gym memberships,
    forgotten meditation apps)

  • Executive coaching (strategy without the capacity to execute it)

  • Team building retreats (temporary inspiration that fades by Tuesday)

The gap? None of these address the physiological foundation of performance.

Your middle managers—the people translating vision into execution,
managing up and down, holding organizational coherence—are operating
on depleted systems. Poor sleep architecture. Dysregulated stress response.
Metabolic dysfunction. Decision fatigue compounded by literal physiological fatigue.

You can't think your way out of a biology problem.

The cost you're already paying:

  • Presenteeism (bodies at desks, brains in fog)

  • Increased healthcare costs

  • Decision-making delays and quality degradation

  • Higher turnover in critical roles

  • Strategic initiatives that stall in execution

Performance Infrastructure: Where Business Strategy Meets Human Biology

The Corporate Athlete approach:

OPTImind doesn't do "wellness." We build performance infrastructure—the physiological and strategic foundation that allows your team to execute at the level your business demands.

We start with YOUR goals: What does your organization need to achieve in the next 12-24 months? What's required from your executive team and middle managers to get there? Where are the current bottlenecks—not just in strategy, but in human capacity?

Then we assess the REAL limiters: Through our consultative assessment process (informed by doctorate-level physical therapy expertise), we identify what's actually constraining performance:

  • Sleep quality and architecture

  • Metabolic health and energy regulation

  • Stress response and recovery capacity

  • Cognitive load management

  • Movement quality and pain interference

  • Nutritional strategies (or lack thereof)

  • Breathing mechanics and autonomic regulation

Plus: Subjective energy ratings, work-life integration metrics, and alignment with business-specific targets.

Then we build individualized + team solutions.

We customize the program to include what your team needs most. This could include the following:

  • Strategic workshops addressing the physiology of decision-making, energy management, and sustainable performance

  • Individual coaching for high-impact team members

  • Team programming when collective capacity building serves organizational goals

  • Possible intensive retreat for accelerated transformation

  • Ongoing partnership with Helen (human performance) and Terry (business strategy) to ensure integration doesn't end when the program does

This isn't generic. We're not running the same program for a tech company's product managers and a manufacturing firm's operations leaders. We're designing based on YOUR organizational goals and YOUR team's specific limiters.

Built for Organizations That Understand: Your People ARE Your Competitive Advantage

Ideal fit:

  • Companies: 50+ employees with established executive teams and middle management hierarchy

  • Decision-makers: CEOs, COOs, HR Directors who recognize that burned-out managers create organizational drag

  • Investment mindset: You've already tried surface-level wellness. You're ready for infrastructure.

You know your middle managers are:

  • The translators between vision and execution

  • Managing complexity in both directions (up to leadership, down to teams)

  • Critical retention risks if they burn out

  • Capable of so much more—if their biology supported it

You're ready to invest in the humans driving your metrics.

Meet Your Facilitators

The Corporate Athlete is led by two professionals who bridge the gap between science and business:

Dr. Helen Harrod Clark

Helen brings deep expertise in human performance, physiology, and behavior change.

As a PT and performance specialist, she understands how your body works as a system

and how to translate complex science into practical strategies.

Helen is also an endurance athlete who transformed from finishing last

in high school cross-country to competing in ultramarathons and triathlons—

she knows what it takes to build sustainable performance from the ground up.

She owns The Performance Lab, a specialized gym in Yarmouth, Maine

focused on strength training and longevity science.

Her body-first approach helps founders understand that peak cognitive performance,

sustained energy, and business success all start with optimizing your physiology.

Why The Corporate Athlete Isn't Just Another Wellness Program

1. We integrate what others separate: Most companies get business consulting OR wellness programs. You get both—designed by a Doctor of Physical Therapy (Helen) and business strategist (Terry) who understand that sustainable performance requires BOTH optimized physiology AND strategic clarity.

2. We assess like clinicians, not coaches: Helen brings a PT's diagnostic eye to human performance. This isn't guesswork or generic protocols. We identify the specific physiological limiters preventing your team from executing your strategy.

3. We're built for high performers: OPTImind exists for people operating at demanding levels. We don't do "work-life balance" platitudes. We build the capacity for sustainable intensity—because your business requires it.

4. We measure what matters:

  • Your organizational metrics (productivity, retention, healthcare costs)

  • Individual capacity markers (sleep, energy, cognitive performance)

  • Subjective quality of life ratings

  • Progress toward business-specific targets

We track the transformation. You see the ROI.

What Changes When Your Team Runs on Infrastructure, Not Adrenaline

Organizational level:

  • Decreased healthcare costs

  • Improved retention of critical middle management talent

  • Faster, higher-quality decision-making

  • Strategic initiatives that actually get executed

  • Reduced presenteeism and sick days

Individual level:

  • Measurable improvements in sleep quality

  • Regulated stress response and recovery

  • Increased subjective energy and work-life integration

  • Enhanced cognitive performance under pressure

  • Sustainable capacity for the demands you're actually facing

The multiplier effect: When your middle managers operate from physiological stability rather than depletion, the impact cascades. Better communication. Clearer thinking. More resilient leadership. The organizational glue actually holds.

How The Corporate Athlete Works:

Phase 1: Discovery Call + Initial Assessment

We start with a conversation to determine if this is a mutual fit. We'll explore:

  • Discovery with executive leadership: organizational goals, team challenges, desired outcomes

  • Individual assessments: identifying physiological and strategic limiters for each participant

  • Program design: customized workshops, coaching cadence, and team interventions based on YOUR specific needs

Phase 2: Infrastructure Building

This is where we create and customize your programming to meet your goals. This may include:

  • Regular workshops (virtual + in-person): translating the science of performance into practical application

  • Individual coaching: addressing personal limiters and building sustainable systems

  • Team programming: collective capacity building when it serves organizational goals

  • Intensive retreat: accelerated transformation for high-priority initiatives

Phase 3: Integration and Partnership

This is where we focus on success long term. We offer our services to help with the following:

  • Reinforcement of new performance infrastructure

  • Measurement of organizational and individual outcomes

  • Planning for ongoing partnership and sustained momentum

This isn't a one-and-done program. It's the beginning of a different way of operating—one where human performance and business performance are designed together.

By the end, your company will have a clear, proven system for sustainable high performance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the program delivered?

The Corporate Athlete program is hybrid: virtual and in-person. Initial assessments and intensive workshops typically happen on-site at your location or at The Performance Lab in Southern Maine. Ongoing coaching and follow-up sessions are delivered virtually for efficiency. Optional retreat components can be configured based on your team's needs and location.

We're not local to Maine. Can this still work?

Absolutely. While we're based in Southern Maine, we work with organizations nationally. The program can be designed as hybrid delivery—we'll travel for critical in-person components (assessments, workshops, retreats) and handle ongoing coaching virtually. We'll discuss the optimal configuration during the discovery call based on your team's location and the scope of engagement.

Our team is already overwhelmed. How does adding "one more thing" help?

This is exactly why the program works. We're not adding tasks—we're building capacity. The physiological and strategic infrastructure we develop actually reduces cognitive load, improves decision-making efficiency, and creates margin where there was none. Participants consistently report having MORE bandwidth after engaging with the program, not less. We're addressing the root cause of overwhelm, not piling on top of it.

What does the participant experience look like?

Each participant receives an individualized assessment (not a generic wellness survey) that identifies their specific performance limiters—sleep quality, stress response, metabolic health, cognitive load management, movement patterns. From there, they participate in educational workshops that translate the science into practical application, plus individual coaching sessions to implement sustainable changes. This isn't group fitness classes or meditation apps. It's clinical-grade assessment with personalized intervention—designed for high performers operating under real demands.

Can we start with a pilot group before rolling out company-wide?

Yes. Many organizations begin with a subset of their middle management or executive team to validate the approach before broader implementation. A pilot allows you to measure impact, refine delivery for your culture, and build internal champions. We can discuss pilot structures during the discovery call.

What's the investment, and how do we measure ROI?

Investment varies based on team size, engagement scope, and delivery format. We discuss specific pricing during the discovery call after understanding your organizational goals and participant numbers.

ROI is measured through both organizational metrics (retention rates, healthcare costs, productivity indicators, sick days) and individual capacity markers (sleep quality, energy levels, cognitive performance, subjective wellbeing ratings). We establish baseline measurements at the start and track progress throughout the engagement—so you see the return, not just the investment.

Can we continue working with OPTImind Labs after the initial program?

Absolutely. Many organizations transition to ongoing partnership models—quarterly workshops, annual assessments, retained access for emerging challenges. The initial engagement builds the infrastructure; ongoing partnership maintains and evolves it as your organization grows. We'll discuss continuation options as we approach the end of the program.

Ready to Optimize the Whole System?

Corporate Athlete partnerships begin with a conversation—not a sales pitch. We want to understand your organizational goals, your team's current capacity, and whether OPTImind is the right fit for the transformation you're trying to create.

Book a discovery call with Helen and Terry. No generic proposals. Just an honest assessment of whether we can help you build what you need.

Your business is only as strong as the system that runs it. Invest in both.
